It has been one hell of a year. I never imagined it in my wildest dreams. At this time last year we had just begun to come to tell people we were having a baby. Now, here we are with a 5 month old. I still cant believe she is mine.
In the spirit of the New Year, a quick reflection of the past one is in order:
I was pregnant, had Kiwi, and survived 13 of the most terrifying but rewarding days.
Mike went to Korea, Japan, Australia, Guam, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Hong Kong. He is a VERY smart man and brought me lots of presents. I think I'll keep him
We were finally able to be together as a family and have a second Christmas and anniversary together.
But on to what most of you really want to know about
Kiwi had her 4 month shots pretty late in the game this time around (didn't want to do that and move). And yet again, that little girl blossomed right after. I don't know if its a fluke or a trigger but I'm not complaining. She finally rolled over. It scared us more than her. She does great rolling from tummy to back but not the other way. She will roll on to her side but that's about it. She hasn't quite mastered how to get her arm out from underneath her.

At her appointment, we were given the go ahead to try more foods, so I have been. Kiwi is pretty good about trying new stuff and has yet to spit it outright...until we tried potatoes.
We received the best anniversary present ever. Kiwi laughed for the first time! It is the cutest sound I have ever heard. Now I spend time between naps trying to make her laugh. She doesn't laugh for me like she does for her daddy, but I'll take what I can get.
Every where we go, people come up to us and tell us what a beautiful baby we have. I must admit it give me a little bit of a mommy ego, especially now that Kiwi responds to all these people. My favorite thing has to be how the Marines Mike works with react to our itty bitty. They are all mesmerized by her blue eyes. It doesn't matter how tough they think they are, they end up talking to her and playing with her toys.
I quit trying to move Kiwi's little sleep schedule. She slept through the night finally last night. We woke up at 230 scared to death that the worst had happened and repeatedly checked her breathing. Can you say paranoid? I'm not banking that this phenomenon will happen again. I'll just take what I can get.
On another quite amusing note, Mike and I have realized that we can not look around in the baby section of any store...and Toys R Us is off limits. We bought Kiwi way more "Christmas" presents than she ever needed. In all honesty though, the little car is pretty freaking sweet, and so is the chair, and the gym and the rattle blanket. Probably shouldn't have signed up for the Toys R Us rewards club. In my defense, they have some wicked deals on diapers and I can get coupons so then they are super wicked deals!
I leave you with this adorable video I took while at the doctor's office. The nurses kept joking about how noisy Kiwi was and how they could hear her clear down the hall.
